Moodle: Ways to Restore or Import Content into a Course

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to save any content from courses after the term is over, you have several options. The first option that we strongly recommend is to import the content into a Blueprint Course. For each course you teach, you can get a single Blueprint Course created. Instructors can use a Blueprint Course to create and store content for a course to be taught in a future semester. Students do not get enrolled in Blueprint Courses. The second option is to download and save the content to your own computer (file size must be less than 500MB to import back into Moodle).

Ways to Restore or Import Content into a Moodle Course:

Moodle allows those in an instructor role to restore Moodle courses with other course backups or to import content from one course to another. Below is a list of different options which allow you to restore or import course materials into a course.

• Moodle: How to Import All Materials into a Course: This feature allows instructors to import all the content from one course into another without clearing the content that already exists there. 
• Moodle: How to Overwrite a Course: Allows instructors to overwrite what is in a course with the entire contents of another course.
• Moodle: Selective Import Content from Other Moodle Courses: Allows instructors to pick and choose which items to import into a course. This will not erase or overwrite any existing course material. 
• Moodle: Import Materials from Another Instructor's Course: Provides instructions to follow when importing materials from another instructor's course.
• Moodle: How to Backup a Course: creates a backup file of the current state of a course. Content can then be restored or imported from the course.
