Moodle: Import Materials from Another Instructor's Course

The steps below outline the process of how an instructor of a course can import materials from a colleague's course.

To Import Materials from another Instructor's Course:

  1. Prepare the Content: Instructor A (the colleague providing the course content) should ensure that the content is stored is in a Blueprint Course.
  2. Enroll the Recipient: Once the content is in the Blueprint Course, Instructor A should manually enroll Instructor B (the recipient) into the Blueprint Course using the "Guest Instructor" role.
  3. Import the Content: Instructor B then has two options:
    • Option A: Create a backup of the Blueprint Course, then using Simple Restore to add the content into Instructor B's course or overwrite the course with the content. Simple Restore will adjust the due dates based on the new course's start date.
    • Option B: Use the Selective Import feature to import select items or all of the content. Due dates will not be alterned with this method.
