TigerWare: Software Suggestions

General Information

LSU allows suggestions from Active Students, Faculty, & Staff for additions to Tigerware, a secure website where you can Download FREE & DISCOUNTED Software. It provides an array of Software compatible with the following Operating Systems: Windows Computers, Macintosh Computers, and Linux Computers. It also offers information on LSU Education Discounts for Computer Hardware.

Who Can Submit Suggestions?

  • Active Faculty, Students, & Staff at LSU Campuses
  • Incoming LSU Students when the first day of your first semester at LSU begins
     

To Suggest Software:

First, determine whether your software is free, open-source, paid, or free trial. Note that we will not accept suggestions of free trial software; the software as-is must be able to function indefinitely with its current permissions & features.

Suggest New FREE / Open Source Software

Please leave a comment at the bottom of this article! Include the following information:

  • Your LSU email
  • How you currently use this free software
  • The website of the software company (GitHub pages are acceptable)

Software requests for listing free software will not be approved without the above information. Upon approval we can add it to our article list on free software at Software: Free & Open Source.

Note that no "free trials" are accepted; the software must be fully free to use with no time limits, or provide an educational version for free after providing your LSU email. (Software with optional paid features are acceptable as long as the base product has no time limits or restrictions on regular use).
 

Suggest New PAID Software

First, please search for the software you want to suggest in the following pages listed, as it may be pre-approved. (Ctrl + F).

  • If it has not been purchased yet:
Please reach out to your departmental IT Person or business office and have them check Tigerware for pre-approved software you may be able to purchase. If it is listed in Tigerware, it has been pre-approved and may be easier to obtain than a similar alternative.

  • If it has already been purchased, and simply needs to be hosted on Tigerware:
All LSU Faculty & Staff can host pre-purchased software on TigerWare. This can also make it easier to distribute to students!  To do so, please submit a request at the following link: TeamDynamix - Tigerware Request

All additional version updates can also be submitted via the same link as needed and we will update the files upon receiving them.
