Text Messaging System
In order to better communicate emergency information to the campus community, LSU has implemented the Emergency Text Messaging System.
The Emergency Text Messaging System is a service that allows anyone in the LSU community, including the LSU AgCenter and Paul M. Hebert Law Center, to receive alerts, news or other emergency information via text message on their mobile phones. Individuals will have to choose to be included in the system by providing their cell phone information through myLSU.
To opt in to the system, students, staff and faculty will need to Subscribe to LSU's Emergency Text Messaging System.
Emergency Text Messages are also sent via e-mail from "LSU eTXT!" (lsu@getrave.com). Please follow the appropriate link below to ensure that these messages are always delivered to your inbox.
- LSUMail: Configure Safe & Blocked Senders (Add lsu@getrave.com as a safe sender.)
- Outlook users, to ensure that legitimate messages are not marked as Spam, please also install the appropriate hotfix from the Microsoft link below if you have not already done so:
Participation in the Emergency Text Messaging System is not mandatory, but encouraged. There is no fee to subscribe, but texts are still subject to any standard text messaging rates set through cellular providers.
The Emergency Text Messaging System is part of the university’s crisis communication plan, which includes numerous methods of communicating information to the campus community. In the event of an emergency, messages will be sent out from the LSU Emergency Operations Center on campus.
